We are sad to be wrapping up our Art and Art History class here in Florence, but we are honored that the villa has asked to scan our artwork and display it on the walls of future guests! Our last group excursion day was spent in Venice. We explored the Medieval and Renaissance collection of the beautiful Ca D’Oro and the Modern collection of the Ca Pesaro. We talked about Rodin’s inspiration from the classical and how he gave the old a contemporary edge. We enjoyed a lovely lunch by the water and strolled along the canals. Our class had a special day yesterday in Lucca, were we rented bikes, scouted locations to paint, and practiced our Plein Air skills. It’s a crunch to finish our paintings of David before the show tonight, but the work is looking amazing!
